Project Engagement:

Jurong  regional line, contract J108 (S$265.4M / US$200M)

The proposed Jurong Region Line (JRL) is planned to service neighborhoods of Choa Chu Kang, Tengah, Jurong West, Jurong Industrial Estate, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Jurong East to West Coast. The total route length is approximately 24km. The JRL infrastructure has been designed to cater for 4-car Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) trains with operating station platform length of 75m.

The Authority has divided the JRL project into several contracts. Contract J108 has been awarded to John Holland – McConnell Dowell Joint Venture for the design and construction of three elevated stations, namely, the proposed elevated Tengah Plantation (JE1) Station, the proposed elevated Tengah Park (JE2) Station, the proposed elevated Bukit Batok West (JE3) Station and the associated elevated viaducts. Contract J108 also includes the partial demolition of the existing Heavy Vehicle Park (HVP) and the preparation of Temporary Staging Area (TSA).

The MRT viaduct comprises two main tracks, namely, the West Coast bound and Tengah bound. The viaduct interfaces with Contract J102 on the northern end of JE1 Station and with Contract J109 at the eastern end of JE3 Station.

CONTRACT N112 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF NORTH-SOUTH CORRIDOR (VIADUCT) BETWEEN SUNGEI SELETAR AND YISHUN AVE 5 ((S$ 365.9M / US$ 275M)

The North-South Corridor (NSC) is Singapore's eleventh expressway. The main function of NSC is to provide a high capacity, high-speed transport link between the north sectors and the city area, and to relieve congestion along the major road corridors and traffic intersections. NSC will also facilitate better distribution of traffic on the expressway network.

The NSC will connect East Coast Parkway (ECP) in the south to Admiralty Road West in the north providing a central north-south corridor through the island. It will run parallel to the Central Expressway (CTE) to alleviate the traffic load on the heavily utilised CTE as well as nearby major arterial roads such as Thomson Road and Marymount Road.

The NSC will connect the city centre with towns along the north-south corridor; Woodlands, Sembawang, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Toa Payoh. To improve the overall connectivity of the road network, the expressway will also intersect and provide links to existing expressways including Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Pan Island Expressway (PIE) and (ECP).

The NSC has a total length of 21.5km, of which around 12.3km is underground tunnel and 9.2km elevated viaducts and at-grade road. There are five facility buildings along the tunnel alignment with 16 in-ramps and 17 out-ramps along its length.

Contract N112, comprises the design and construction of approximately 3.3km of new vehicular viaduct structure and 3 slip ramps connecting to Sembawang Road. It also includes the design and construction of pedestrian overhead bridge, at grade roads work including all associated works for the completion of the contract.

HongKong-ZhuHai-Macau Bridge

The mega marine viaduct project, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge aims to link all three places and reduce commuting time among the cities to about an hour of one another. One of its connecting roads, the proposed Hong Kong Link Road, will connect the bridge at Hong Kong's boundary to the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities hub.

YWL as the permanent works designer conceived and completed the design of the marine viaducts that had been built using the precast segmental balanced cantilever method with a typical span length of 75m and maximum span length of 180m.The structure also featuredinnovative solutions such as construction of marine pile cap using precast shell and construction of marine column using precast prestressed technology.
